He has been performing as Skip since 1998 at Fall Mountain Regional Highschool and in 2001 he performed Ottis Redding's hit "(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay," in front of his entire high school everyone knows him as Skip. Gordon has been called Skip ever since he was born, as the nickname was given to him by his parents, however, he still uses the name Gordon if people prefer to call him by that. In 2005 his band played a show The Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood Californai and was immediately made offers by producers, and more recently in 2017 Skip had an opportunity to work with Atlantic Records. However, he decided to remain an independent artist to keep creative control of his musical path. As an indy artist Skip got his music into the hands of Johnny Perez, the drummer of Sir Douglas Quintet, at the historic Skyline Studios in Topanga Canyon. Johnny Perez offered Skip his first Indy recording deal under 8 Ball Records. In 2006 he lived at Skyline Studios and wrote and recorded songs such as "Life Is Beautiful," "Forcefield of Love" and "One Look" while earning a music degree from California State University Northridge. After a year of recording, Skip and his friends from music school Bill Worrell (America The Band/Chicago) and Jayme Lewis (Producer/Bassist, Capitol Records/Disney) finished producing the album, Forcefield Of Love. He promoted the album at clubs and festivals in Ventura, CA and Los Angeles under the solo artist name Skip & with his band Skip Jaymes & The Space Station. In 2011 Skip's band headlined the Majestic Ventura Theater and was approved to open for national touring acts. Later in 2011, Skip Jaymes & The Space Station, was listed as one of Musician Connection Magazine's Hottest 100 Unsigned Indy Artists. Skip worked Bob Lanzner (Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg, RZA) and with other Major and Indy recording studios in Los Angeles, CA. As he continued to play music festivals and local venues from Southern California to Texas (2012-2014), he received acclaim from various A list music & film producers including Darius Fisher (Cher, Rolling Stones, Julian Lennon, Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros). In his world travels he has played shows in Europe, China, all over the USA and The Bahamas. Skip has promoted and performed his songs while on tour to South By South West Festival (SXSW) with LA based hip-hop artist, Verbs. While road managing Hani Naser (Santana, David Lindly, The Doors, Bonnie Rait), Skip went on tour with the Violent Femmes (2014) to the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Skip later toured with his project, Watcher Moon, who released their EP Blood On The Mountain (2014) after another record deal from Johnny Perez at Skyline Studio. In Southern California, Skip enjoys playing festivals such as Topanga Days, Earth Day Festival, Hottest 100 Festivals, Malibu Guitar Festival, Serenity Gathering, Topanga Film Festival and other independent festivals. Gordon has opened for national acts including Robie Krieger of The Doors, Iron Butterfly and Leon Russell at the Canyon Club in Agora Hills and Ojai Libby Bowl. This happened after a magical night at The Canyon Club that literally brought the booking agent to tears of joy with his original song, Forcefield Of Love. Skip even joined America The Band on one fateful night at a sold out theater on their song Horse with No Name (2016), thanks to Bill Worrell. With Watcher Moon he opened for Iron Butterfly at the Canyon Club (2016) and was offered to open for more shows on their world tour. Skip has also played music and events with Tommy Chong, Zsá Zsá Inci Bürkle, Grace Potter, Jayme Lewis (Shim), Zach Irons & Daniel Saslow (Awolnation), Daniel Marley, Nick Hexum (311), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Killah Priest (Wu-Tang Clan) and many more!
